Syllabus 7707Cambridge International

Cambridge O Level Accounting (7707) develops practical skills in recording, classifying and analysing financial transactions. Two papers covering theory and practical preparation of financial statements. Strong foundation for ACCA, CA, CFA and university business programmes.

Key topics

  • Books of prime entry & ledger accounts
  • Financial statements — income statement, balance sheet
  • Adjustments — depreciation, accruals, prepayments, bad debts
  • Partnership & limited company accounts
  • Ratio analysis & interpretation
Exam tips
  • 01Balance sheet must always balance — recheck if it doesn't, don't fudge numbers.
  • 02Use vertical format consistently — examiners prefer it.
  • 03Practice ratio analysis interpretation in 2–3 sentence structure: ratio → meaning → action.
  • 04Practice past papers from at least the last 5 sessions — pattern recognition is half the battle.
  • 05Master the CAIE command words: define, explain, evaluate, calculate, describe, compare, state.
